I did not know this, and I do not know the source to this either, so I cannot verify this information. All I know is that cats were brought to Norway and Sweden during the Viking Age by way of Viking ships, when Vikings found them useful against rodents aboard. Most of the cats that arrived (or else survived) in Norway in the start were of the long-haired kind that were found in the Caspian/Black Sea area and became, eventually, the Norwegian Forest Cat specially adapted to cold climate with its woolen under-fur and waterproof overcoat and big paws. The very late entry into Scandinavian history probably means that the cats of Freyia were a relatively new innovation that happened during the Viking Age, although the myth of her chariot by “big cats” is clearly an earlier adaption of the very old Great Mother iconography so popular during and before the Roman Iron Age - if this was an early adaption we are likely speaking of the only feline in Scandinavia before the Viking Age - the Lynx. And by the way - to say that a woman is flirting in Icelandic is still to say that “she has Freyias cats in her eyes” ;) Anyway cats are really cool ♥

(I see whole groups of college students typing away and studying, without a Starbucks cup near them. )

((OOC: And yet, the stereotype of college students is that they party all night and eat an absurd amount of left over pizza, things of which I never did in college. XD))

((OOC: You know who I never see at Starbucks? Writers. With their laptops working away on their next big novel. I never see that. So I often wonder why writers have that stereotype attached to them.

And you know another thing I never see? Artists, just out and about, sitting in random places, especially nature-like zones, and sketching in their sketchbooks. You never see that. I know I personally never even do that. So I often wonder why that stereotype is attached to artists.))

She steps up to him, sizing him up, despite her significantly smaller body, and hisses, “You do not frighten me, cousin.”

Loki bent slightly forward, just enough to be in her face as he spoke, “You are no cousin of mine.” He straightened himself up, his glare not changing in the slightest. He then added, “And good. I am glad you are not afraid of me. That only means you would not expect the inevitable.”

“Do you really not know who I am? You and I are not so unalike.” She lowers her bow and arrow and attempts to size him up. Despite her small stature, her posture is still strong. “I am Skadi of Asgard, goddess of winter, archery, and snow. Daughter of Ullr, god of the same, and guardian of the northern most regions of Midgard.”

“Skadi?” Loki questioned. He narrowed his eyes at her, a certain contempt filling him. He felt a distinctive pain as memories of the poisonous serpent came forth in his mind. The fact that Skadi was the one who arranged such a punishment to take place made Loki upset and insulted to see her here now. “Leave me alone,” he hissed as he turned his back on her and started to briskly walk away from her.

“Then get out of my home, half-blood.” she snaps, causing him to stop abruptly. “I saw what you did to that city and I having poison dripping on you will be the least painful thing I can arrange if you do the same here.”

“Do not assume you know me so well, Skadi,” Loki said, swatting her hand from grasping him. Her name seemed to leave a bitter aftertaste in his mouth. “And careful who you threaten. You were lucky once. But if you try a stunt like that again, I will shove that bow down your throat.”

Minding his own business traveling about a city he didn’t even live in, Loki would enter and exit the various shops that caught his interest. In the middle of stepping out from a boutique of books, he heard…

“Do you really not know who I am? You and I are not so unalike.” She lowers her bow and arrow and attempts to size him up. Despite her small stature, her posture is still strong. “I am Skadi of Asgard, goddess of winter, archery, and snow. exiledtrickster:

Loki wasn’t sure why he had done it. Perhaps it could be considered impulsive, venturing through to a parallel universe, only to live a second life as though he was an ordinary human being. Not many would ever do such a thing. But the trickster’s mind had been mulling over the idea for quite a while now, and finally, action had been taken. To be a well-respected and honored ruler, he needed to understand the way human’s minds worked. Therefore, why not experience such first-hand?

He had purchased a decent sized flat in New York City of this parallel universe, and was beginning to organize the rooms, when suddenly he picked up an energy signal not too terribly far away. A twin. Upon this Realm.

Scowling, Loki put down the bed sheets he had been carrying, flourishing his wrists while muttering an incantation under his breath to transport himself to the other’s location in a matter of seconds.

“Loki…” he said, addressing the other as though it were no surprise he showed up before him. It was to some extent, yet, by now, Loki had grown used to various alternate selves manifesting where he happened to be. While it was unexpected, and would for a brief second cause his heart to skip a beat, the moment he came to realization that a twin appeared made it seem as though that brief moment of being startled never happened. He knew by now he couldn’t avoid alternate selves. They always seemed to appear, whether he wanted them to or not. Perhaps they were like he once was yet no longer seemed to be… curious. Curious about the lives of their other selves. Somewhere deep inside, he felt sad about the that he lost such curiosity, such liveliness and eagerness to learn, aware that so much of his enjoyment of life had died. Yet at the same time, he was painfully aware that he had not the energy to change it.

He closed the book he held in hand,—a fiction novel of nothing too special, yet at least kept him invested—and gave his twin his undivided attention. His eyes scanned the other, taking into account what this alternate self wore and judged his body language to get some idea about him. “Just passing through? Or…?” he questioned the other, not bothering to hide the lack of interest he had. As far as he was concerned, as long as the other chose not to cause trouble, Loki didn’t really care what he was up to.

A introduction to Liefullyloki

everstar81 submitted:

Appearing suddenly with a snap and flash of purple and green light, a small  young girl looks around her for a moment, seeing Liefully lounging in a green plush settee, she flushes and becomes wide eyed. “I’m so sorry I popped in on you like this! I’m still learning my spells, I meant to appear on your doorstep like a respectable person…Sorry.” she says nervously, plucking at her tunic. She’s dressed like the “comic verse” young Loki and smooths over her front as she stands before you. “I’m Billie, I’m..well was Midgardian but now a mixture of human and god.” She brings forth a pink box tied with a vivid green ribbon. “I’ve been following you in the guise of my mun,and since you offered to meet new people I figured it was a good time.” she giggles nervously and holds out the box to you, “I brought you sweets.”

“Billie?” Loki questioned as he lifted a hand to accept the gift. He examines her attire, something that looked vaguely familiar though he couldn’t think why. Deciding the details of her attire were not important, Loki dropped his head to look at the vivid pink box, its bow a highly saturated green color that somewhat stung the eyes being against such a pink color. “Thank you for this,” Loki said, before even opening it to see what was inside. He lifted his free hand and pinched one of the ends of the bow and gently pulled it, undoing the bow’s structure. The undone bow slid from the top of the box in a slight tangle draped over his arm and its ends rested on Loki’s knee. He glanced up at the girl momentarily before opening the box to see what was hidden inside.
